Ashraf Iqbal

Ashraf Iqbal is a student of Calculus and Mathematics and has been working in the field for the past 20 years. He likes to research the latest learning methodologies and inclusion of technology in the classroom. He is currently writing a book on Addressing Problems of Learning through Pedagogy & Technology. Ashraf is a passionate teacher who focuses on the understanding of his students and teaches with a focus on practical applications of the course. During his career, he has adopted approved teaching methodologies and loves to use internationally acclaimed tools for teaching. He will be using Geogebra, a software tool internationally recognised to be the best in learning and enjoying mathematics, to make it visually interactive.

Weekly Course Distribution

  • Week 1

    Platonic Solids

    Study of platonic solids and their transformations (including other regular solids and their shapes). Design and drawing of platonic solids using Geogebra: To draw a 3D object, make measurements, find distances, areas. and volumes using Geogebra.   • Week 2

    Straight Line & Polygon

    Discovering the equation of a straight line in space (that means 3D). Discovering the equation of a straight line in a plane (that is 2D). Finding the area and perimeter of a polygon starting from a triangle; then moving to rectangle, square, parallelogram; and other regular and irregular polygons.

  • Week 3

    Piecewise Functions & Circles

    Piecewise linear functions and graphing them in GeoGebra. Finding the equation of a circle, its parametric and composite representations. Deriving the formula for finding an area of a circle and its circumference.

  • Week 4

    Second-Order Functions

    Study of other second-order functions like conic sections, hyperbola etc.

  • Week 5

    Slopes, Areas of Functions

    Study of slopes for linear functions and second-order functions. Study of the area under the curve for linear functions and second-order functions.

  • Week 6

    3D Solids & Concluding Concepts

    Study of 3D solids like a cube, a sphere, and other related regular solids including platonic solids etc. Derivation of surface area and volume of 3D solids like cubes, spheres, cylinders, and other platonic solids.
